MARINE SUB BUBBLE CITIES ADVENTURE

INTRO :

It is suggested that only the Game/Dungeon Master read this Webpage while fully familiarizing himself with the materials. Most sections of the Webpage begin with a simple description and functionality of the topic/section, followed by a story describing the circumstances and events for the section. Next is each room desciption (refering to the applicable map) with its contents of items and creatures. The end of the Webpage lists all creatures and items, including game statistics and conversions for other games.

This Webpage describes sub marine cities and pods functionality (and an adventure of their post war days), and is full plans and description of Sub Marine City and Pods with structures and vessels and life. This includes the sub city and pod plans and descriptions, post appocalypse stories maps and descriptions, and also vessels and inhabiting creatures. This is meant to be functional for both Gamma World and Traveler (among other) games. And includes game conversions for most items and creatures.

HISTORY :

These Bubble Cities were built near the end before the apocalypse. The intention was to extend one of the last of man's horizons -the seas. These cities were first built above and riding the surface of the oceans, but were found hard to maintain and expensive to support -with no resources present to be self sufficient. The alternative was to build sub-aquatic cities that were not as hard to maintain, and easier to support -with local food farming and mining possible, which eventually became self sufficient.

The Bubble Cities started as a few Cities dotting near the coasts independently -providing tourism, research, etc. Eventually they expanded (some cities merged together), and spread into metropoli of their own across the ocean floor.

Overall functionalities of the Bubble Cities included:
Tourist Malls/Hotels/Resorts,
Appartments/Condos/Communities/Towns/Cities,
Military Bases/Research/Navy Ports,
and Aquatic Farming/Harvesting/Factories.

At the same time, each Bubble City needed to provide functionalities:
Dwellings/Medical,
Food/Farming,
Storage/Shops,
Central Support/Engineering,
and Vehicular Garage/Port/Repairs.
This meant usually atleast one Bubble Structure for each of these functionalities -for any community of people.

One Bubble Structure itself could only support at the max a few families -and was not really practical.

BACKGROUND :

Pre-appocalypse (and immediately after) gave enough warning for the people in the Bubble Cities to be evacuated -before the loss of Terrestrial support. (Maybe some Bubble City is still occupied -just waiting to return to land ?) Some of the cities (near coasts) were destroyed during the war of course. Other cities fell into disrepair and flooded and/or collapsed. And, a few cities still remained intact -either still functional via the repair-bots, else shutdown (waiting to be powered up again), -but possibly raided by other nonhuman inhabitants ...

This module presents a Bubble City spread out -with sections including: functional, shutdown (but not quiet), and a collapsed and flooded section -leading to another final exciting exploration of a special city station section (which could lead to other future cities/adventures).

ARCHITECTURE :

The Bubble Cities present generally specific functionality Bubble Structures. Below are listed a minimum needed of Functional Bubbles to support a City. Of course, some functions may be split among multiple Bubbles, such as multiple Dwelling Bubbles, and sepparate Mall and Entertainment Bubbles.

Minimum Bubbles and Functionality:
Central Support and Engineering,
Dwellings and Medical and Entertainment and Business,
Food and Farming,
Storage and/or Shops,
Vehicular Garage and Port and Repairshop.

For one group of players of course, only one functional (and airtight) Bubble should be enough to support them for a short period of time (say maybe a week -if there is already good air there), and for a long period of time -as long as the Central Engineering is still functioning (plus fueled ?) and running life support of course ...

The Bubble Cities of course can not use burning resources (oil/gas etc) -it would waste air and be impractical to use. The Bubble Cities generally use one of multiple power supply resources. These include: Mill Generators via local tides and currents, Nuclear (if not used up), Pressure Generators via thermal/gas vents (but unstable). This module presents the Pressure Generator (now destroyed and nonfunctional) via a minor thermal vent -which also damaged the Bubble, but now the City draws power from the second City's Nuclear Power Plant.

The Bubbles are connected via 'Tubes' between them. There are atleast one backup Tube between multiple Bubbles as alternates routes if jammed or damaged or (worst case) flooded. Each connection of Tube to a Bubble, interfaces via emergency closed 'Door', which also provides a double 'Valve Doors' with a small chamber (which includes two aqua suits -hopefully used !) between for emergency passage between Bubble and Tube.

So if a Tube or Tunnel is flooded, somebody can open the first valve door and enter the chamber then close it, empty the chamber of water/air (via pump is working), then open the second valve door and enter the second area (closing the valve door) -without Bubble/Tube flooding the other one. The Valve doors have pressure locks, so only one valve door can be opened at one time.

Starting Out :

This adventure would start out with the Players out in a boat (fishing, exloring, etc) when they discover (or are discovered) by a surfaced Submersible Vehicle -run by Robots. They climb into the Vehicle (else are captured by the Robots), and taken beneath the waves to the Bubble City ...
