MONSTER BROWSER - NEW CREATURES

SOLDIER WASPS :

.

HUNGRY (HUGE) POTATOES :

Originally growing in the Fallout (or maybe a long evolved strain from a Research Farming Station) these are Potato Vegetables that bred into a mobile species/race. They vary in size from 2-feet diameter up to 8-feet(but rarely).

Being potatoes they grow randomly in shape dependent upon 'soil' circumstances and conditions. So they ordinarily have a random number of limbs and senses -which evolved from the original 'eyes' of the Potato. This means a small Potato may have an eye and an arm, while a large Potato might have three eyes and five arms randomly distributed. Usually the Potato coordinates to have two or three limbs beneath it for locomotion, one or more limbs for carrying towards its top, and one or more eyes near its mouth to project its face. They only have one mouth.

They are slow growing and need lots of nutrition, so they tend to also be slow moving, and guard their 'garden' ferociously. Resultingly, their 'gardens' are noticed before they are, when they will crawl out from the folliage or a hole to grab 'unwanted' visitors.

They do not seem to be very intelligent. They may hoard or sometimes carry Tech items, but rarely use them. They have been known to speak -but only single word sentences, and only a few words.

In relations, again they are loners. But if challenged by large or tough group, they may barter for large quantities of food (fresh or old). But they do not work with anybody, nor make agreements.

They are not planners. And so as organized and tended as their gardens are, the gardens also tend to be random in shape and distribution -with no higher sense of order -other than just random groupings and paths. So 'visitors' may get mesmerized or lost, before they realize the 'owner' Potato shows up and attacks in defense of its garden.

They are not known to be offensive in the overall picture. They have not been known to raid villages (alone or in groups). Just sometimes pop up in an uninhabited but fertile areas (but maybe near them). So, they are known to pop up on the outskirts of farmlands, but stick to themselves (and maybe unfortunately the farm fields). Nor are they known to eat people -unless one is already in their clutches or stuck in their garden of course.

Being selfish about their gardens, they tend to live alone or individually spread when in groups. Exception would be baby sprouts growing in adult garden area. Also rumors sugest that they may have built towns/colonies (?) -in Farming Stations somewhere.

FUNGAL FORMS :

These are seen as 'figures' or sculpture like forms of plants and animals. But actually this is a fungus that infects, poisons, and grows upon the host -which it then hardens to present the original hosts shape and form -all over a short period of time. The hardened form may be brittle or pliable like rubber, dependent upon dry or moist conditions.

The original infection (usually from touching a fungus form or spores) starts as seeming like an itchy rash -that spreads across the host's body over a week or two. By this time the fungus starts to become visible as colored skin (again varying dependent upon conditions). At which time, the fungus starts intruding deep into the host's flesh -with the host dying within a day or two. The fungus then completes feeding upon the host, the fungus dies (leaving spores), and hardens to leave the host's original form. The spores may last indefinately with the form or things that touch it.

The infection can be removed by cauterizing the rash (possibly needing multiple times) or heating or boiling touched items. Fire will burn the forms quickly and destroy the forms.

Rumors have that a large enough infection spread (plague) creates animated or intelligent fungal beings, or inhabited bodies.

Some stories tell of villages of animated fungal beings. Other stories tell of haunted towns of fungal forms resting by day -that awaken and rome (for new victims) by night. Nobody approaches these towns of course.

Can the fungal forms become animated or intelligent beings with their forms ? Do fungal villages exist ?

OCTOPOD (aqua/land) :

This is an semi-intelligently evolved species of Octopus. They are known to live both independently (in their own nest), and in communities.

They can both crawl (maybe walk?), and swim quickly and travel distances. There legs are also capable to grab (and use) items. They are both aquatic and terrestrial (but prefer the water).

They have been found to carry and sometimes use techno equipment, but not identified if they understand the functionalities -or just found the equipment accidentally. No communication has been recognized (yet) with them, nor seen between them. Although somehow they work together (could they be using telepathy ?) They have been seen rarely, and usually avoid other organisms and people. Maybe there could be larger varieties of these Octopods, large communities (with a leader ?), more intelligent (maybe build cities ?) ... etc.

Considering that they have a short life (say 10 years), they tend to be quick thinking -and fast paced, getting around quickly to get things done.

SEA HORSE (aqua) :

These are an advanced evolved species of Sea Horses. They are intelligent enough to communicate among themselves, to use some of the techno equipment, and to specialize in creating and harvesting their own farming.

They are aquatic only. They have a pair of extended fins that developed into fingers, with which they use to grab and use tools and equipment.
